Sadhak Ramprasad and Sadhak Kamalakanta

Sadhak Ramprasad was born in Kumarhatta village in Nadia District of West Bengal; now also known as Halisahar. Ramprasd's father was a Physician, but  Ramprasad showed no interest in entering the family's traditional profession to become an Ayurvedic physician. Instead, during adolescence he exhibited spiritual inclinations which he expressed by writing poetry. As time passed, Ramprasad's otherworldliness caused great anxiety to his parents. In an attempt to instill a sense of worldly responsibility in the boy, Ramram Sen arranged his marriage. After his father died, all the responsibility of maintaining the family was on his shoulders. He began searching for jobs and found the job as an accountant in Kolkata. The materialistic aura at the job was no deterrent to Ramprasad, though he did his job, but his mind was always on the Divine Mother. He used to write poetry on the back of the accounting book about the divine mother; but one day he was caught by his fellow colleagues. They informed the manager about this incident. The manager immediately recognized the spiritual aura of the sadhak by reading the poetry. He was given permanent leave from work and every month his family used to get money sent by the manager, this enabled Ramprasad continue his sadhana. The main part of his sadhana was to express the relationship with Divine mother Kali through songs and poetry. He became the disciple of Krishnananda Agamavagish(see:https://kisalay20027.blogspot.com/2022/02/beginning-of-kali-puja-in-bengal.html)

Sadhak Kamalakanta Bhattacharya was born in Ambika Kalna of Bardhaman in West Bengal. He followed the same way of sadhana as Ramprasad did through songs and poetry to the divine mother. He received his initiation from Tantra Sadhak Kenaram Bhattacharya. He was appointed to sing the devotional songs about mother Kali at the court of the King of Bardhaman.

Sri Ramkrishna also used to sing songs and hymns of Ramprasad and Kamalakanta as described in the Gospel of Sri Ramkrishna. Till date no Kali puja is finished without hearing and singing the songs of Ramprasad and Kamalakanta in Bengal.
